Анотація

On January 9, 2021, the prominent Turkologist-historian, Ukrainian orientalist Igor Fedorovich Chernikov, who stood at the origins of Oriental Studies in Ukraine, passed away. Almost all his life, he worked at the Academy of Sciences, holding various scientific positions at the Institute of History, the Institute of Oriental Studies, being the Head of the department at the Institute of Social and Economic Studies of Foreign Countries. He worked closely with the Oriental Institute of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague and Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. The researcher was especially interested in the phenomenon of personality of Kemal Ataturk. He devoted a number of publications and a monograph in different languages to the historical personality of the Turkish leader of the 20th century.

Igor Chernikov has represented Ukraine at various scientific events many times over. He was the author of about 230 scientific works published in Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, France, Romania, and Great Britain.
