Abstract

The article is devoted to the famous Ukrainian scientist, historian of science, director of the A. Yu. Krymskyi Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1998–2012), DSc, professor L. Matveyeva on the occasion of the 90th anniversary. The life way and the scientific achievements in the fields of historiography, source studies, history of science, history of Oriental studies are analyzed. Attention is paid to the role of L. Matveyeva in the deve-lopment of Ukrainian Oriental Studies, strengthening of the profile institute, education of a new constellation of Ukrainian Orientalists.
