Abstract

Article is devoted to Kalachakra thangka from Art Museum named after Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko (Kiev). Based on its description there are set the place of origin – Dolon-nor (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China), the name of the first owner – Hans Hasso von Veltheim (1885–1956), German Indologist, Anthroposophist and traveller. The upper limit of its creation is the 30s of the 20th century, when von Veltheim travelled through Central Asia. Thangka is unique because it belonged to one of Dolon-nor temples destroyed during the war in Inner Mongolia. Veltheim chose thangka’s plot under the influence of external circumstances, antroposophical ideas, and eastern mysticism.
