Abstract

A complete translation of Bing Xin’s book of poems “Infinite Stars” (1923) is proposed. Free verses of the book marked the beginning of a new genre in modern Chinese poetry – short poems “xiaoshi”, which quickly became popular among young Chinese poets. This translation not only seeks to accurately convey the poet’s thoughts, but also keeps the characteristics of the free form of the poem, which is achieved by almost literal translation. The full translation of the poetry collection may claim to convey the individual style of the poet, known in China as the “Bing Xin style”.
