Анотація

First annual academic Jainism Summer School took place at the University of Toronto (Canada) between 29^th July – 2^nd August 2019. It focused on reading and contextualizing the prabandha literature, a rich archive of Jain stories and biographies composed in India from the 13^th century onwards mainly in Sanskrit and Prakrit. Designed for students, scholars, and research faculty from Canada, USA, India, and Europe to deepen their knowledge in the academic studies of Jainism and Sanskrit, the summer school assisted in discovering a wide range of topics, figures and places in the Jain prabandha to examine the historiographical challenges and possible benefits of writing the history of late medieval India with these sources.
