Abstract

The author considers critically various etymologies of the ethnonyms Buryat and Barghut and the toponym Barghujin-Tokum and has etymologized the ethnonyms from Turcic and Tungusic languages accordingly and the toponym from the genitive case of the ethnonym Barghut and the Mongolian word meaning “vally”.
