Анотація

Джам’янг Норбу, тибетський сучасний письменник, журналіст і правозахисник, та його знаменитий англомовний твір стали всесвітньо відомими після 2000 р., коли “Мандала Шерлока Холмса…” здобула найвищу індійську літературну премію “Кросворд”. Стаття розглядає, яким чином автор може бути присутнім у своєму творі. Джам’янг Норбу наділив своєю біографією літературного персонажа, теж літератора, у своєму творі. Він також представлений як творець тексту: йому належать позатекстові елементи роману. Норбу використовує образ подорожі і як елемент композиції детективу, і як шлях удосконалення. Він використовує співвідношення канону і коментарів до нього як метод структури роману. Але вишуканість англійського тексту, створеного тибетцем, викликала певні сумніви в його авторстві в Пітера Хопкірка – англійця, шанувальника, як і Норбу, спадщини Редьярда Кіплінга і великого знавця проблем Великої гри.
