Анотація

У статті розкривається низка аспектів взаємодії сангхи і державної влади в Непалі в період Середньовіччя і початку Нового часу. Особлива увага приділяється таким питанням, як соціальна організація віхар, ідентичність громад сангхи в умовах змін у державі і суспільстві. Автор підкреслює, що такі явища, як вплив тантризму і санскритизація, визначали політику держави щодо непальської сангхи. Ці процеси аналізуються на прикладі низки реформ, що стосувалися сангхи і запроваджувалися монархами, зокрема реформ князя Ла- літпура Сіддхі Нарасімхи Малла в XVII столітті. Непальська сангха пройшла складний шлях трансформацій, коли мала пристосовуватися до індуїстських культів своїх королів, водночас легітимізуючи владу правителя як захисника дгарми. Також звертається увага на ті кардинальні перетворення, яких зазнало непальське суспільство у зв’язку зі створенням великого єдиного королівства династією Шах після 1769 року, внаслідок чого вплив буддиз- му дещо зменшився. Але навіть у найскладніший для сангхи період, за часів індуських прем’єрів-консерваторів Рана (1846–1951), коли значно зменшилась державна підтримка монастирів, буддизм у Непалі зміг адаптуватися і вижити, зберігши давні традиції, практи- ки і тексти індійської магаяни, спадкоємцем якої він є.
